A note from Stef:
Before Broad World evolved into my own company, it was a place for me to share what I discovered on my travels and through my trial-and-error approach to life. Quickly, it evolved to include stories from different women who were also taking risks, learning, and growing through life’s tough and wild lessons. That’s why I started the Broad Ambition series. Now, owning Broad World Consulting gives me a better peek behind the curtain into the lives of amazing female entrepreneurs. I’m so proud to call them my clients.
I’m inspired by these women daily. I hope their stories have the same impact on you!
Introducing Tori Dundas from True Curated Designs, a Vancouver-based jewelry company specializing in fine jewelry and engagement rings.
The fine jewelry and diamond industries have historically kept buyers in the dark quite intentionally. The white glove experience of buying quality pieces tends to leave a buyer feeling clueless and powerless — which is so counterintuitive to the times in our lives when we want to buy timeless pieces to mark a moment: an engagement, a graduation, a promotion. Tori’s main goal in her business is to bring transparency to buyers so they can understand the value in what they’re buying, make educated decisions to match their desires (and budgets!), and feel confident in the pieces they choose to be a part of their story.
One of my favourite things about Tori is how she’s always wearing her “good jewelry.” Whether she’s working, running, surfing, or going out for drinks, this girl is always wearing the most beautiful, timeless pieces. That’s the thing about solid gold — it never tarnishes! She’s so good about finding the right styles to match someone’s lifestyle. The first time we met, we were chatting over coffee and I couldn’t keep my eyes off the stunning pink stone on her right hand. She told me that at the core of True is the end-use wearer — usually a woman — and that the Right Hand Ring is one of the pieces she’s most passionate about.
“Women are accomplishing so many things beyond the traditional roles of becoming a wife or having a child, so why not commemorate those moments, too?” she explained. “A marriage is something to celebrate! But, so is landing your dream job, getting your masters, or leaving a toxic relationship. We don’t have to wait for someone else to buy us that special piece. The right-hand ring is a daily reminder that you’re amazing and complete as the individual you are.”
You can see why I like this gal.
Recently, Tori hit her stride and realized it was time to allocate some of the behind-the-scenes jobs so she could focus on her business. Being an entrepreneur you wear not only the hat of your job — for Tori, being a jewelry designer — but also that of a marketer, accountant, HR lead, operations manager, and more. My team and I are so happy to be supporting Tori’s growth through organic and paid social media, video content, email marketing, and lead funnels. and digital ads. It’s so refreshing to
One of the initiatives Tori masterminded was working on collaborations with aligned women. This year alone, she’s launched the following collections: The August Diaries Deco Collection, With Love x Cara Jourdan, and Bethany Menzel 24/7 Collection. This week, she launched a fresh, second collection with Jill from The August Diaries entitled Alchemy, with pieces ranging from $69 CAD to $559 CAD. This ‘70s inspired line conjures everything we love about Stevie Nicks with modern touches of black spinel and bottle green tourmaline gemstones.
